Company Info: Our History 1969 - The brand Ambi Toys was established in Holland by Simon Gompes and Herman Schpector. 1970 - One year later, chief designer Patrick Rylands (the youngest designer to have won The Duke of Edinburgh's Prize for Elegant Design) joined Ambi Toys and worked with them exclusively from 1976 to 2002. 1977 - The Ambi Toys Baby Trainer won the Toy Of The year Award. 1986 - Patrick Rylands designed the Rocking Penguin which also won The Toy of The Year Award. 1999 - Ambi Toys was sold to Brio, Sweden. 2003 - Production was shut down in Holland and was moved to Dongguan, China. 2006 - Brio stopped marketing Ambi Toys and for the next 3 years the company lay dormant. 2009 - Selegiochi, Italy, bought Ambi Toys with the chief intention of reviving the brand back to its original splendour. |
